Le Monde Francophone For resources from the Bryn Mawr Library, click on Books. This list is not complete, and does not contain items on " France," for the list is too extensive. One recommendation, however, is la Ve Republique de 1958 a nos jours, call number F 944 M, v. 18., written in French. Search the library's catalog for your specific topic. Information on the countries being studied can be found at the CIA World Factbook site. This site has a lot of very reliable information. Other links on our website that include information on these topics: French, which also includes Francophone sites that help give information on specific French-speaking countries; Europe; Africa. For information on specific countries, try Les etats en chiffre - par Jean Villette; Basic information on all of the countries of the world; good source for smaller countries about which few sources are available. Two excellent sites for information on French literature and French writers are Francophone African Literature in English (U. of Fla. site with translated excerpts from African writers and poets), and Lire les femmes ecrivains et les litteratures africaines, which focuses on women writers of French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa; includes biographical information, texts, bibliographies, interviews, links to related sites and a search engine. Website in French with modified English choices. One site which can be searched for information on French literature and French writers is Project Muse. This can be accessed by going to the "Online Resources" from the library's "Virtual Internet Library" page. Then, click on the link to Project Muse and conduct a search. An example of an article found this way is entitled "Francophone Women Writing in 1998-99 and Beyond: A Literary Feast in a Violent World," by Jean-Marie Volet.

In the reference section of the library is an excellent resource entitled African Writers. The article on Ba, which is included in the first volume, contains biographical information, as well as a criticism of her work. The call number for this source is Ref 840.9 B.
