Welcome to the 2nd grade! Each student entering 2nd grade this fall is strongly encouraged to read, either alone or with an older person, a minimum of FIVE BOOKS this summer. Below is a list of suggested authors and/or series that are appropriate and well liked. Included are authors who write poetry, fiction (chapter) books, and picture books. These are not the only authors that you can read. Summer is a wonderful time to visit your public library and explore new books and authors.

Record those books you read over the summer on the Summer Reading Log. Bring the completed Log with you on the first day of school in September and give it to your new homeroom teacher.
