Welcome to 5th grade! Before the beginning of school in September, each student entering 5th grade is required to have read over the summer:
In addition, four other books are to be chosen from the selection of Newbery winner and honor books listed below. However, you are free to pick others; just be sure they are Newbery titles.You are free, however, to pick others; just be sure they are Newbery titles. You are required to read a minimum of FIVE books over the summer. Feel free to read other titles and authors to share with your classmates in September.
NOTE: During the first two weeks of school in September, you will be using the book Bud, Not Buddy in class. Make sure that you bring a copy with you on the first day of school. You do not need to own a copy, but you will need to have one available for use in class.
Record those books you read over the summer on the Summer Reading Log and have a parent initial it. Bring the completed Log with you on the first day of school in September and give it to your new homeroom teacher.
