The Bryn Mawr School Libraries

Bryn Mawr School has three libraries with four goals: to encourage the lifelong love of reading by maintaining a diverse collection; to enrich the curriculum by acquiring materials that complement classroom learning; to teach students and faculty to be discriminating users of both traditional and electronic resources; and to support all members of the Bryn Mawr Community in their intellectual endeavors.

Little School

The Library of the Little School presents high-quality literature to pre-kindergarten children, teaching them to love, respect and care for books. It lends books and non-print materials to families and supports faculty professional and reference needs.

Lower School
The Lower School Library is the central location for all materials that enhance kindergarten, primary, and elementary student learning and enjoyment of literature. Its collection is current, and reflects literary excellence and a multicultural world. Regulated access to the internet is provided; the library has a fully automated online public access catalog. The Librarian is a teaching partner with the traditional classroom instructors; team teaching is a living concept.

The Edith Hamilton Library
The Edith Hamilton Library serves the Middle and Upper Schools. It has a collection of over 30,000 books, and 1000+ videos, and numerous music CDs, CD-ROMs, periodicals, and online databases. It shares with the Lower School an Internet/Intranet Site that makes all resources—the automated public access catalog, online databases, and a ‘virtual’ library of Internet resources available to all. The Library Staff fully participate in the teaching process by offering instruction at every level about how to be a discriminating user of information and a lover of books.
