New Book Titles
Each month during the school year we post the new book titles on the library website. Click here for the books added to the collection in September.
Summer Reading Follow-Up
On September 15th during 5th period Upper School students will meet to the discuss the book they selected to read from the student nominated summer reading titles. Students will break into small groups, similar to a book club, to share ideas and questions with others who read the same book.
Last spring students were invited to submit nominations for books that met the following critera:
should be appropriate for incoming ninth through 12th graders
should be well-written
should have the possibility to spark discussion
should stimulate personal reflection and be intellectually engaging
should be a book that you love and want to share with the Bryn Mawr Community.
Nine were selected by a small committee for summer reading choices. The books are Elsewhere, by Gabrielle Zevin, The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand, Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi, Realm of Possibility, by David Levithan, Seabiscuit, by Laura Hillenbrand, A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini, Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen, What is the What, by Dave Eggers and White Like Me, by Tim Wise.
